Manuel Armengol, Rosa Maria Aligué, María Mercedes Amat and Pere Puig, new members of the Research Assessment Commission
On 12 April, AQU Catalunya's Governing Board endorsed the appointment of the following new members of the Research Assessment Commission (CAR): Dr. Manuel Armengol; Dr. Rosa Maria Aligué; Dr. María Mercedes Amat; and Dr. Pere Puig. All four have a long and distinguished academic career in their respective field of knowledge.
Chair of the Department of Surgery at the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB) and currently holds the position of Rector's Delegate for Relations with Healthcare Institutions at the university.
In addition, Armengol is also coordinator of the General Surgery Research Group, which is an AGAUR-recognised consolidated research group.
Associate professor of the Department of Cellular Biology, Immunology and Neurosciences at the University of Barcelona (UB).
In 2004 she received the Government of Catalonia's award for the Promotion of University Research in the category of Young Researchers, and in 2010 she received the “Agusut Pi i Sunyer” prize for an outstanding scientific career awarded by the External Scientific Committee of the IDIBAPS.
Director of the Department of Pharmacology, Toxicology and Therapeutic Chemistry at the University of Barcelona, of which she is also the chair.
p>She is the vice-president of the Natural Products Specialist Group and also the Catalan Section of the Spanish Royal Society of Chemistry (RESQ). In 2015 she was awarded the Fèlix Serratosa Medal by this organisation.
p>In addition, Amat forms part of the Research and Development Centre of Organic Synthesis for the Chemical and Pharmaceutical Industry (SINTEFARMA).
Chair of the Department of Mathematics at the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB), where he was also the director from 2011 to 2013 and where he has taught for more than 25 years.
Head researcher of the Advanced Statistical Modelling Research Group.
Members of the commission are appointed for a period of four years, renewable once.
