Workshop on quality assurance and distance learning programmes in Mexico

The Open University of Catalonia (Universitat Oberta de Catalunya/UOC) and AQU Catalunya gave a presentation on the quality assurance of online distance learning programmes at the Seminar on Quality Assurance in Online and Distance Learning Higher Education in Mexico (ESAD MX). The event, which took place on 21 and 22 May in Mexico City, was attended by managerial staff from different national bodies and institutions in Mexico in charge of the quality assurance and accreditation of distance and blended programmes.
The objective of the workshop was to define and develop a general framework of references and trends on QA criteria for higher education programmes delivered through distance and blended programmes in Mexico.
Carme Edo, project developer with AQU Catalunya, participated as a representative of the Agency. Edo dealt with the framework and criteria used by the Agency in the review and evaluation of these types of programme and presented the advances made with the TeSLA project (Adaptive Trust-based e-assessment System for Learning) in defining the standards and relevant aspects of external quality assurance for e-assessment.
