Joaquim Prats Cuevas was today appointed as the new President of the Catalan University Quality Assurance Agency (AQU), at the proposal of the Minister for Innovation, Universities and Enterprise, Josep Huguet.

Prats is a PhD holder in Modern History and Professor at the University of Barcelona (UB), specialising in the didactics of history, the study of educational systems and the history of universities. He currently heads the PhD Programme on Didactics in the Social Sciences and of the Heritage of the University of Barcelona. He is also President of the Higher Council for the Evaluation of the Educational System and the Institute of Continuing Education’s Innovation Committee at the University of Barcelona.

Joaquim Prats replaces Antoni Serra Ramoneda, Professor of Business Economics at the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB), where he was rector from 1980 to 1985. Serra Ramoneda chaired AQU Catalunya from its foundation in 1996.
