The AQU Board of Management, consisting of the rectors and chairpersons of the Catalan universities' social councils, the rectors of private universities and renowned academics, considers that it is AQU Catalunya that must undertake the review of degree programmes to be given in Catalan universities from the 2010-2011 academic year onwards.

For this reason, and given the delay in the signing of the agreement with ANECA, whereby AQU Catalunya undertakes the review of Bachelor and Master's degree programmes, the AQU Board of Management, in its meeting on 22 January, expressed its support for the Catalan Government in its urgent demand to the Spanish Ministry of Science and Innovation to put into effect the established agreements in order for the Agency to adopt the function of the ex ante assessment of Bachelor and Master's degrees, until the positive conflict of competence that is under way is resolved.

Other agreements reached in this meeting included approval of the 2009 Activities Plan and the appointment as members to the Research Assessment Commission of Dr. Teresa Espinal Farré (UAB) and Dr. Emili Montserrat Costa (UB), who replace Dr. Josep Maria Fullola Pericot (UB) and Dr. Jordi Malloll Mirón (URV); the Board of Management acknowledged them, together with all of the people involved, for their work in the various bodies involved in the Agency's managerial, review, accreditation and certification work during the past year.
