ENQA, the European Association for Quality Assurance in Higher Education, has issued its position paper on quality assurance in the European Higher Education Area, in view of the meeting of ministers responsible for higher education in Leuven (Belgium), 28-29 April 2009.
The document, which was produced jointly by all of the ENQA member quality assurance agencies and approved by the Board, defines the principles – respect for the diversity of university systems, necessary dialogue between the partners involved in higher education (students, teachers, institutions, etc.), amongst others – and the priorities – implementation of the European standards and guidelines, cooperation between European QA agencies, lifelong learning, guaranteed access to relevant information on the quality of study programmes, amongst others – that will govern the work of European QA agencies in the coming years.
AQU Catalunya is a founder (2000) and full member of ENQA (2007). The head of the Agency's quality assurance section, Josep Grifoll, has been a member of the ENQA Board since 2008.
