Renewal of AQU Catalunya's ISO 9001:2008 certification

The Catalan University Quality Assurance Agency has obtained the renewal of certification for its internal quality assurance system for university quality assurance according to ISO 9001:2008, and more specifically for processes of institutional review and academic staff assessment. This re-certification involved adaptation to the requirements of the new version of the ISO 9001 standard released in November 2008.

The report from the external audit, carried out by Applus, contained no non-conformities, and a positive assessment was made of work carried out over the last year. The strong points detected in the audit were as follows:

  • The implementation of the Strategic plan,
  • The planning of activities,
  • Self-evaluation processes,
  • The results of the survey on the satisfaction of academic staff, in relation to the Agency's services and assistance,
  • Job function definition,
  • Server internalisation, developed to give the Agency a greater capability in terms of action and a higher level of responsibility in its activities,
  • The formulation and monitoring of the review of affiliated institutions.

ISO 9001:2008, which is internationally recognised, contains guidelines that enable users to design and implement a made-to-measure quality management system for the quality assurance of a product or service, and to increase user or client satisfaction.
