Dr. Luís Castanyer Muńoz awarded the Jaume Vicens Vives award by the Catalan Government

Dr. Luís Castañer Muñoz, member of the AQU Research Assessment Commission since 2007, has been awarded the Jaume Vicens Vives award. Awarded by the Catalan Government, this honour is given in recognition of the quality of university teaching by teachers and workgroups from Catalan universities.

Castañer i Muñoz is a member of the Department of Electronic Engineering at the Technical University of Catalonia (UPC/Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya). A graduate in telecommunications engineering from the Technical University of Madrid (Universidad Politécnica de Madrid) in 1971, he was awarded a doctorate degree in the same subject from the UPC in 1975. He has been a teacher at the UPC since 1973, during which time he has been a pioneer teacher in the education and research of photovoltaic solar energy.

The Jaume Vicens Vives awards, which have been awarded since 1996, are to be presented on 18 September at the Open University of Catalonia, coinciding with the start of the academic year at universities in Catalonia.
