AQU Catalunya participates in the Second National Congress on University Studies

The Second National Congress on University Studies was held in September, in which AQU Catalunya was a participant. The subject of the congress was ongoing training for the process involving the introduction and follow-up of new Bachelor degrees, which was started in the first congress. Events of this nature are held to enable professionals in the university world to exchange ideas on and compare their experience with pilot plans that come under the Bologna process and to bring about the convergence of degrees and qualifications at the European level.

A presentation of AQU Catalunya's experimental programme for the follow-up of recognised degrees was made at the congress. This follow-up model, which is being applied in eleven public and private Catalan universities, was tested on twenty-one degrees during the 2008-2009 academic year.

In this experimental programme, the general framework produced by the Spanish network of university quality assurance agencies (REACU) has been adapted to the context of the higher education system in Catalonia. The Catalan Agency's experimental programme for the follow-up of recognised degrees is the first of its type to be implemented in Spain.

Other quality agencies belonging to the REACU network, including ANECA, AGAE and ACAP, also took part in the congress, which was held at the Jaume I University.
