The CAQ is reorganised for the purpose of its duties of ex-ante assessment, monitoring, modification and accreditation

In order to carry out its duties of the ex-ante assessment, monitoring, modification and accreditation of recognised degree programmes, the AQU Board of management has modified the structure of the Quality Assessment Commission (CAQ), in line with its composition as specified in the Agency's statutes:

  • President
  • Up to six members of recognised academic and/or professional standing from the university community in Catalonia
  • Up to six members of recognised academic and/or professional standing from the international university community

The main changes regarding its structure are as follows:

  1. The abolition of the special ATP committee that assessed the standards of qualifications and programmes and the special ACAU committee for the quality assessment of university faculties and activities, given the new requirements following the approval of the Framework for the ex-ante assessment, monitoring, modification and accreditation of recognised degree programmes.
  2. The setting up of five special review panels according to areas of knowledge (Arts and Humanities; Sciences; Health Sciences; Social and Legal Sciences; and Engineering and Architecture), which are responsible for carrying out the duties of ex-ante assessment, monitoring, modification and accreditation.
  3. The designation of the review panel moderators, who at the same time become members of the Quality Assessment Commission (CAQ). The members of the CAQ thereby participate directly, as review panel moderators, in the processes involving the ex-ante assessment, monitoring, modification and accreditation of recognised degree programmes, and are therefore not merely informed of the proceedings.

The special CEMAI committee is to be maintained and will continue with its work of assessing the individual merits and activities of both tenured and non-tenured teaching staff in relation to the allocation of supplementary salary payments. The chairperson of the committee will continue to form part of the Quality Assessment Commission.
