AQU Catalunya's Research Assessment Commission has agreed to extend the deadline for applications for the accreditation of research and advanced research in the first call for applications in 2013 until 10 May (the initial deadline was scheduled to be 26 April). This call for applications, which was made on 8 April, coincides with the launch of the Serra Húnter Plan, which plans to recruit more than five hundred new faculty staff members for posts at Catalan universities during the period 2013-2020, the selection process being based on international criteria for excellence. The submission deadline for applications to what is the first year of this programme is 7 May 2013.

Given that one of the eligibility requirements for being a Serra Húnter teacher is to be in possession of either the accreditation of research or, in the category of associate professor and full professor, the accreditation of advanced research, it was decided to extend the submission deadline for obtaining the abovementioned types of accreditation in order for candidates without accreditation who are applying to the Serra Húnter Plan to apply for accreditation within the context of this call for applications.
