On 16 May, a conference will be held at the Palau Macaya under the theme How evidence can be incorporated into decision-making, jointly organised by the Catalan Institute for Public Policy Evaluation (Ivàlua), the Agency for Health Quality and Assessment of Catalonia (AQuAS), the Catalan Ministry of the Vice-presidency and of Economy and Finance and the Catalan University Quality Assurance Agency (AQU Catalunya).

The primary goal of the conference is to boost the importance of assessment and evidence in decision-making. With this aim in mind, the conference seeks to serve as a meeting point for the various agents devoted to both assessment and decision-making in all spheres: the agencies themselves; the Catalan authorities; and the universities, research centres, and advisory and social bodies.

The economic secretary to the Catalan Ministry of the Vice-presidency and of the Economy and Finance Pere Aragonès will be present in order to officially open the conference along with the presidents of the three organising institutions: Frederic Udina of Ivàlua; Pere Joan Cardona of AQuAS and Josep Joan Moreso of AQU Catalunya.

The main presentation will be given by Howard White, CEO of The Campbell Foundation, an international network devoted to the production and dissemination of evidence in the field of social policies. On the basis of his experience, White will address the issue of how to foster alliances that would be able to establish assessment as a key component in decision-making.
The directors of the three organising agencies (Marc Balaguer of Ivàlua, Toni Dedeu of AQuAS and Martí Casadesús of AQU Catalunya) will present the experiences of their respective agencies in two areas: accountability and the incorporation of evidence into decision-making.

Lastly, a round table moderated by Francesc Udina will be organised in order to discuss how evidence can be incorporated into decision-making in Catalonia.
