The post of tenure-track lecturer is the first of the contractual teaching posts to exist. It offers the possibility of promotion to higher posts with an indefinite contract (tenured assistant professor and full professor). The nature of the contract is temporary and full-time. The contract can last from one to five years, with flexibility in cases of maternity or paternity leave and adoption or fostering, and with full teaching and research autonomy. The total duration of a contract for the post of tenure-track lecturer or teaching assistant, either at the same university or another, may not exceed 8 years in total.
For recruitment to a tenure-track lecturer post, candidates must be in possession of a favourable report issued by AQU Catalunya.
