Civil servant academic and research staff

Eligibility: civil servant academic and research staff who hold one of the following university teaching posts: university professor, university associate professor, professor at a university polytechnic, and associate professor at a university polytechnic.

Teaching and research staff that have never been evaluated by the National Research Assessment Commission

If the research activity of a teacher has never been evaluated by the National Research Assessment Commission (CNEAI), he/she must follow the same procedure as non-civil servant academic staff, with the difference that the deadline for submitting an application for a one-off evaluation period is 31 December 2001 and, as a result, normal periods ending prior to 31 December 2002 cannot be submitted for evaluation.

Teaching and research staff that have previously been evaluated by the National Research Assessment Commission

An agreement has been signed between AQU Catalunya and the National Research Assessment Commission whereby the Agency recognises all positive and negative evaluations of the research activity of university teaching staff applied for and carried out by the Commission.

  • Positive evaluation by the National Research Assessment Commission. Civil servant academic staff positively evaluated by the National Research Assessment Commission, with block periods up until 31 December 2004 accepted under respective government agreements (the National Research Assessment Commission certificate must be dated 2005 or before), currently receive the corresponding additional salary increments awarded by the Autonomous Government of Catalonia. Applications to AQU Catalunya are therefore not necessary. If the recognised periods are subsequent to this date, given that there is no corresponding government agreement, applications for the recognition of this period must be made to AQU Catalunya according to the established procedure, and a copy provided of the evaluation by the National Research Assessment Commission.
  • Negative evaluation by the National Research Assessment Commission. Although civil servant academic and research staff whose research activity has been negatively evaluated by the National Research Assessment Commission may legally submit an application to AQU Catalunya for evaluation of block periods of research that coincide with the corresponding periods evaluated by the National Research Assessment Commission, given that the Agency recognises the positive and negative evaluations carried out by the National Research Assessment Commission, the result of such applications will be a negative evaluation.

In cases where an appeal has been lodged with the National Research Assessment Commission and is pending resolution, an application for evaluation may be made to AQU Catalunya provided that the block periods of research coincide with the corresponding periods evaluated by the National Research Assessment Commission. Such applications will be evaluated providing that the National Research Assessment Commission has not announced its decision regarding the appeal prior to the evaluation sessions carried out by AQU Catalunya.
