Frequent asked questions to report for tenure-track lecturer
When should I apply for a pre-selection assessment report if I want to apply for a position as lecturer?
According to the prevailing regulations, candidates applying for a position as lecturer must be in possession of a pre-selection assessment report issued by AQU Catalunya. The two calls for applications made every year coincide with the recruitment timetable of universities in Catalonia that, in general, announce vacancies during the second quarter of the year. In order to be eligible to apply, applications for a pre-selection assessment report must be made to AQU at least six months beforehand.
Does the fact that my accreditation is issued in one field of knowledge (e.g. Engineering and Architecture) prevent me from applying for positions in another field (e.g. Science)?
No. Accreditations issued by one of the Research Assessment Committee's specific committees for a particular field of knowledge must be considered a requirement for admission to the teaching staff selection processes and are permanently valid. Subsequently, in the assessment of the merits and abilities of the candidates, it is the competent body of the university that establishes the assessment criteria.
Do favourable reports and accreditations expire?
Reports and research and advanced research accreditations do not expire.
In the case of an unfavourable report, when can the candidate apply for another one?
Persons who have applied for a report prior to shortlisting for the posts of tenure-track lecturer may apply for a new report for the same post in the next application period.
Should copies of published work be adjoined?
Copies of published work are not necessary. Only in cases where the work has been accepted but is still pending publication should it be presented in digital format (in pdf or ms-word) together with documentary proof of acceptance for publication by the editor.
In the curriculum vitae, in the section on teaching experience, should details be given of all the modules of the subjects taught or only of the modules taught in that subject?
Both the total number of subject modules and the modules that have been taught by the candidate should be listed.
In the section on congresses in the curriculum vitae, what is meant by publications?
On many occasions the contributions to congresses may be published in the form of an article in a review, proceedings, as a chapter in a book, etc. In this section the name of the review or book, etc. should be mentioned and also the first and last page of the article (and the number of the review if this is the case).
How is teaching experience accredited?
Teaching experience can be accredited by presenting either the General Teaching Programme or the Individual Teaching Programme duly signed by the relevant academic authorities and where the candidate's teaching positions are listed, or by presenting a certificate signed by the head of department responsible for the subjects taught, in which those subjects and modules taught are specified.
What is the fee for the issue of the reports?
Does AQU assess academic staff contracted for the post of collaborating lecturer?
Pursuant to Royal Decree 989/2008, 13 June, May 2013 was the final deadline for the universities to convene the competitive examination procedure to recruit collaborating teaching staff. For this reason, AQU's CLiC Commission agreed in a plenary session meeting that the call of September 2012 for the issue of reports on tenure-track and collaborating teaching staff would the last to accept applications from collaborating teaching staff.
