Round table-workshop on the Challenges in university education in the field of Biosciences
AQU Catalunya is organising a round table-workshop titled Challenges in university education in the field of Biosciences to be held at the Autonomous University of Barcelona's Faculty of Biosciences (conference hall) on 11 October.
The purpose of the round table-workshop is to provide universities and other HEIs with information on the way in which the labour market perceives the higher education of graduates in the fields of Biosciences and thereby enhance the synergies between these two worlds and lead to improvements in programmes of study.
Néstor Torres, vice-rector for Teaching Innovation, Quality and the Anchieta Campus and Professor of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at the University of La Laguna, will explain the direction in which studies in the field of Biosciences are moving and give his impressions on where they should focus in the future. Anna Prades, coordinator of AQU Catalunya's employers survey, will give a presentation on the opinions of enterprises in the field of Biosciences based on the findings of the Employers survey.
This is to be followed by a round table discussion between experts with different profiles: one academic, Jordi Barbé, professor of Microbiology and former dean of the Faculty of Biosciences at the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB); one employer, Sergi Trilla, founder, president and CEO of Trifermed; and a recent graduate, Ismael Ávila, a graduate in Biotechnology for the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB) and currently project manager at CataloniaBio & HealthTech.
Also participating will be Montserrat Vendrell, partner in Alta Life Sciences, and Jaume Farrés, dean of the Faculty of Biosciences at the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB).
