Experts, and the knowledge they provide, are the linchpin of AQU Catalunya's activities, as they are the basis for all of its quality assurance procedures. It is for this reason that, in the case of the Agency, it can be said that its main asset is the people, with their knowledge, who carry out the quality assurance of programmes, institutions and individuals.

Experts who work with the Agency have different profiles (they are students, professionals and academics) and are from all fields of knowledge.

More than 2000 experts have been involved, at some point in their career, in the Agency's QA procedures. Just this last year, 147 people joined the pool of experts to take part in one or more of these procedures.

Individuals in the different categories of AQU Catalunya's pool of experts are selected according to the following criteria:

• Students: recent graduates and students in the final year of first degree, Master's and doctoral programmes.
• Professionals: distinguished professionals with a career of at least five years in their respective field of knowledge.
• Academics: university teaching and research staff, preferably in the category of full professor.
