AQU Catalunya is organising a round table-workshop titled The future for economics and business education to be held at the University of Barcelona's Faculty of Economics and Business Studies (Aula Magna) on 17 May. The event forms part of the series of sectoral workshops organised within the framework of the Employers project.

The purpose of the round table-workshop is to provide universities and other HEIs with information on the way in which the labour market perceives the higher education of graduates in Economics and Business Management and Administration and thereby enhance the synergies between these two worlds and lead to improvements in programmes of study.

The event will also provide a forum for brainstorming and discussion between the different actors responsible for the education and training of professionals in the fields of economics and business studies and for enhancement proposals to be made regarding higher education in these subjects.

In order to encourage discussion and analysis among those attending, Wendy Carlin, who is Professor of Economics at University College London and researcher at the Centre for Economic Policy Research (CEPR), will give a keynote presentation titled Facing the challenges of the 21st century – the future for economics and business education; Anna Prades, coordinator of AQU Catalunya's employers survey, will give a presentation on the opinions of enterprises in the field of economics and business management and administration based on the findings of the Employers survey.

This will be followed by a round table made up of experts with different profiles, in particular one academic, two from the business and corporate world – one from the consultancy sector and another from the finance sector – and one student.
