AQU Catalunya to carry out the ex-ante assessment of recognised degree courses being introduced in the 2011-2012 academic year

The Agency is to carry out the ex-ante assessment of proposals for new degree programmes submitted by Catalan universities to the Spanish Universities Council (Consejo de Universidades).

Following the passing of Royal Decree 861/2010 of 2 July, which amended Royal Decree 1393/2007 of 29 October concerning the structuring of recognised university degree courses, AQU has regained the authority to issue compulsory evaluation reports in the process involving the ex-ante assessment of recognised degree programmes in Catalonia.

The Commissioner for Universities and Research (Comissionat per a Universitats i Recerca) has informed the Spanish Ministry of Education's Directorate General for University Policy that AQU Catalunya fully complies with the established requirements for issuing ex-ante assessment reports, given that it is a full member of ENQA and is entered in the European Quality Assurance Register for Higher Education (EQAR).
