Coordinated by the University of Barcelona, the JISER project wishes to act as a bridge of bridges between Europe and its Mediterranean neighbours in the Higher Education and Research Area. JISER-MED is intended to promote Erasmus Mundus objectives in the framework of the Euro-Mediterranean Partnership by contributing to the development of the EURO-MEDITERRANEAN Higher Education & Research Area. AQU Catalunya participates in this project, together with universities of Southern Europe, The Maghreb, The Near East and also the Institut Europeu per a la Mediterrània (IEMED).

Specifically, JISER-MED aims at consolidating mutual understanding and long term partnerships at the EUROMED by:

• improving services for MED students and doctoral candidates in European Higher Education. 
• increasing the international dimension of quality assurance for Higher Education from a Mediterranean perspective. 
  
• strengthening relations between European Higher Education and Research. 
  
• contributing to the interdisciplinary policy debate in furtherance of increased participation and mutual understanding among different stakeholders of the Mediterranean region.
