A total number of 85 external site visits have been programmed for 2019 by AQU Catalunya and the universities in Catalonia in relation to the accreditation of 160 recognised first degree (bachelor's), master's and doctoral programmes.

This figure is lower that what had previously been estimated due to two factors:

• The two-year moratorium on the accreditation of doctoral programmes laid down by the Ministry.
• The start of the certification of faculty IQAS (internal quality assurance systems) as the first step in institutional accreditation, which will lead to a reduction in the number of programmes requiring accreditation through a site visit by the Agency.

One new development is that 2019 will see the start of the development of the procediment procedure adapted for the “reaccreditation” of first degree and master's programmes [ca] in which the processing of evidence will be simplified and more emphasis put on the core aspects of programme quality.
