More than 18,500 participants in the fourth survey on the labour market outcomes of graduates in Catalonia

Fieldwork for the fourth survey on the employment outcomes of university graduates in Catalonia, which is being coordinated by AQU Catalunya, has been completed, with an increase of 22% more graduates and 24% more doctorates compared to the 2008 survey.

  2008 2011 Increase
Graduate population interviewed 12,258 16,182 24.24%
Doctorate population interviewed 934 1,225 23.75%

The main reason for the increase in the sample population is the wider scope of the survey that, for the first time, includes the private universities and twenty-two affiliated institutions. As such, the survey is the most extensive to have been carried out so far in the European Union.

There are three lines of analysis in the 2011 labour market outcomes survey:

  • The student population that graduated at the end of the 2006-2007 academic year.
  • The student population awarded a doctoral degree in 2006 and 2007.
  • A gender-based monitoring of the student population that graduated at the end of the 2000-2001 academic year.

The following table shows the population and sample for the AQU's fourth labour market outcomes survey carried out:

  Population Sample
Graduate population 28,616 16,182
Doctorate population 1,824 1,225
Gender-based monitoring 1,778 1,101
Total 32,218 18,508

The survey was carried out by telephone between 24 January and 28 March, the average call duration being eleven minutes and eighteen seconds.
