A workshop event titled "How can teacher training be improved and enhanced? Employers opinions of university graduates" was held at the Auditori at the University Pompeu Fabra's Campus de la Comunicació in Poblenou (Barcelona) on 26 October 2015.

The purpose of the session was the presentation of the findings and results of the survey and workgroups on the perceptions of both public and private primary and secondary education institutions on the skills and training received by recent graduate teachers during their university studies.

The survey forms part of the Employers project by AQU Catalunya (with the cooperation of Obra Social "la Caixa") and deals with issues such as the process of, and important factors in, the recruitment of new teachers; teachers' skills (importance, satisfaction and room for improvement); teacher training and reception at the institution; and cooperation at university-school (primary and secondary) level.

The purpose of the Employers project is for universities to develop enhancement policies within the higher education system for academic delivery and the improvement of study programmes as a way of reinforcing synergies between universities and the labour market.

The workshop was aimed at management and academics in the Faculties of Education at Catalan universities, principals, management and teaching staff at primary and secondary education institutions, together with those interested in the subject.
