The former president of AQU Catalunya, Joaquim Prats, conferred an honorary doctorate by the University of Murcia

Joaquim Prats Cuevas, PhD in Modern History and professor of Didactic Methods in the Social Sciences at the University of Barcelona, is to be awarded an honorary doctorate by the University of Murcia on 29 April, following the university Senate's decision on 15 June 2015 at the proposal of the department of Didactic Methods in mathematics and the Social Sciences and Mathematics and the department of Modern and Contemporary History and the History of America.

Dr. Prats was the president of AQU Catalunya from 2008 until 2013, prior to which he held the posts of secretary of the Government of Catalonia's Ministry for Universities and Research, deputy director of Teaching Training at Spain's Ministry for Education and Science, and president of the Educational System Review Council (Consell Superior d'Avaluació del Sistema Educatiu, an advisory body to the Government of Catalonia's Ministry of Education). Throughout his professional career, he has also participated in teaching staff assessment procedures carried out by ANECA and he has been an external reviewer of research projects in various Spanish (ANEP, AGAUR) and international bodies. He has published in more than a hundred publications and journals on subjects in modern history, didactic methods in history, teacher training and education.
