On 25 May AQU Catalunya attended the official presentation of the results of the Via Universitària survey at an event organised by the Fundació Jaume Bofill at the La Pedrera Auditori.

The study analysed the responses of more than 20,000 students from 19 universities and shows, amongst other things:

  • A certain level of injustice in access to higher education: the upper classes were over-represented and, conversely, the lower classes were under-represented.
  • Half of all of the students were living at home with their parents.
  • Half of all of the students were exclusively financially dependent on their parents. 23% paid for their studies by working throughout the year and 6% worked during their holidays.
  • Only 41% of students worked full time.
  • Only 10% were on mobility schemes, with an evident gap between the children of parents with higher studies (15%) and the children of parents with at the most a primary education (7.5%).
  • The level of student satisfaction with their studies was moderate.

The study rounds off with a series of recommendations that address the issues under analysis. Click on the following link to access the presentation of the survey findings and a summary of the study as well as the complete report.
