Maria Pau Ginebra and Esther Giménez-Salinas, academics at the Polytechnic University of Catalonia (Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya) and the Ramon Llull University, respectively, have been reappointed as members of the Agency's Governing Board .

Both were originally appointed as academics of recognised international standing to form part of the Governing Board by the Inter-University Council of Catalonia (CIC).

Maria Pau Ginebra has a PhD in Physics from the Polytechnic University of Catalonia (Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya/UPC) and is Professor and Director of the Department of Materials Science and Metallurgical Engineering. She has also been Director of the Biomaterials Division of the Biomedical Engineering Research Facility at UPC and Associated Researcher at the Catalan Institute of Bioengineering (IBEC). Ginebra has also received different awards, including the Government of Catalonia's ICREA Academy award in 2008, 2013 and 2018; the Narcís Monturiol Medal in 2012 and the International Society for Ceramics in Medicine's Racquel LeGeros prize in 2013.

Esther Giménez-Salinas has a PhD in Law from the University of Barcelona/UB and is Professor of Criminal Law at Ramon Llull University, where she was chancellor between 2002 and 2012. Other positions of note she has held include member of the General Council of the Judiciary, head of Institutional Relations at the Government of Catalonia's Ministry of Justice and member of the Council of Europe's scientific committee on criminal policy. She was awarded the Basque Institute of Criminology's Gold Medal in 2000; the Neue Kriminologische Gelleschaft's Cesare Beccaria Gold Medal in 1999; the Grand Cross of the Sant Raimon de Penyafort Order in 2002; and the International Victimology Prize in 2007.
