A quarterly publication of AQU Catalunya
The end of October will mark 24 years since the inception of AQU Catalunya. Originally a consortium, it became an agency in 2003 and five years ago specific legislation covering the Agency was passed whereby it was regulated and consolidated as the instrument that underpins quality assurance and enhancement in the higher education system in Catalonia.
Continue readingAQU Catalunya has combined the EUC Informes, EUC Estudis and Winddat web portals, along with the EUC Dades portal which will be added in the near future, into one website to facilitate access to information according to the preferences of the user, who will fundamentally be prospective students and people involved in quality assurance procedures (either internal and/or external).
In several previous articles I have insisted on the urgent need to develop a system for the institutional accreditation of higher education learning providers that optimises the quality assurance of degree programmes being delivered in Catalonia. For example, in an article from two years ago, I quote literally:”...what we really need is full implementation of a "smart" form of institutional accreditation where the focus is directly on the learning provider and on aspects and/or specific programmes that are of higher risk. This would circumvent the need for the continuous accreditation of all degree programmes in the higher education system in Catalonia...”.
