Maybe I’m bound to wander
From one place to the next
Heaven knows why
But in the wild blue yonder
Your star is fixed in my sky
“Wherever I go”, Mark Knopfler
Esther Huertas Hidalgo, Head of Quality Assurance Department · Josep Manel Torres Solà, Technical advisor of the Executive Board
The Agència per a la Qualitat del Sistema Universitari de Catalunya (AQU Catalunya) has made a clear commitment to promoting institutional accreditation in the Catalan university system. The AUDIT and Support programmes were the first cogs in the wheel that began to move the university system towards institutional accreditation. In 2014, the Agency began to issue the first internal quality assurance system (IQAS) certifications, and it can be said that this activity was consolidated in 2020.
Sandra Nieto Viramontes, Senior advisor of Quality Assurance Department
The search for strategies on how to improve the quality of education is at the centre of much of the current debate in the education community and, given its impact on society, it will certainly continue to be present in the coming years. The quality of education is often associated with outcome indicators related to students, such as their educational performance or the degree of acquisition of skills that are more highly valued in the labour market. However, it should be borne in mind that these indicators of student “success” depend, in part, on the role of the teaching staff. So, how is the quality of secondary school teacher training guaranteed?
Maica Sanz Gómez, coordinator of the Improvement Programme for the Master's Degree in Secondary Education
It is six years since the publication of the first cross-sectional assessment report carried out by AQU Catalunya on the University Master's Degree in Teacher Training for Compulsory Secondary and Upper Secondary Education, Vocational Training and Languages (MUFPS). It is a good opportunity to take stock of where they started from, what has happened since then and where we are now, with an eye to the future.
