A quarterly publication of AQU Catalunya

This September we presented the results of the 2023 employment outcomes survey. This is the focus of this newsletter. The reports include results of interest from multiple perspectives. One such perspective is that of skills and competences that need to be improved. The survey provides the working person’s point of view and assesses what they learned at university in relation to what they need in the workplace. This kind of data can certainly be useful for reconsidering study programmes and training projects, but it also connects to the world of lifelong learning and the world of the so-called short learning programmes (micro-credentials).
Employment growth, more job stability and loss of purchasing power: this is the face of the labour market after the health crisis. Graduates also report shortcomings in communication skills.
On 12 July 2023 the Institutional and Programme Evaluation Commission approved the new version of the Guide to internal quality assurance systems (IQAS) certification in higher education institutions. The Guide, in line with the provisions of Royal Decree 640/2021, broadens its scope and provides the standards and criteria for the certification of centres offering doctoral programmes.
AQU Catalunya publishes the third volume of the Focus collection on university quality tools, dedicated to remote learning.
The results of the study allow us to confirm well-known but nonetheless important aspects that should not fall by the wayside, such as the fact that a better education means better job opportunities and higher salaries.
