AQU Catalunya's employment outcomes survey for 2023 has provided relevant data on the details of the tasks that graduates of Catalan universities perform in their jobs. Of all the graduates surveyed, more than 20,000 altogether, those who say they carry out more tasks related to their studies are those that work in healthcare. Eighty-five per cent of the functions these graduates carry out are related to their specific studies. They are closely followed by Engineering graduates, who carry out functions that are 73% degree-related.
In third place are Social Sciences graduates, whose tasks are 71% degree-related. In fourth place, with 67% degree-related tasks, are Science graduates. Finally, those with the fewest specific functions in their jobs are Humanities graduates, for whom specific functions represent just over half: 55%. In fact, this last group performs the most functions that are not considered typical of people with university degrees. For these graduates, such tasks account for 29% of the total.
On average, the job suitability of Catalan graduates is 72%. To this percentage, it is necessary to add 14% who, although they do not perform functions specific to their degree, do perform functions related to their level of studies, representing a total of 86%. By degree subfield, the data are as follows:
The 2023 report on employment outcomes presents the results of the 8th edition of this survey, conducted among graduates of Catalan universities. As with previous reports, the Agency makes available data and other indicators to all stakeholders in the Catalan university system in order to encourage analysis and reflection on how to improve bachelor's degrees in terms of graduates' employability and satisfaction with the education they received. The data used in this report is the product of a survey that was completed by nearly 41,000 graduates in 2018-19 and 2019-20, a 46% response rate.
More than 120,000 records have been generated over the eight editions of the employment outcomes survey. This figure positions Catalonia as one of the European regions with the most extensive, complete and representative databases for this type of analysis.
