An Agency at the service of the new university scenario in Catalonia

The university requires mechanisms that enable teaching and research systems of the highest quality to be attained. The external review of syllabus designs and academic and research staff accreditation are suitable elements for setting a threshold of excellence and enabling academic and research organisations to have the best staff, optimum strategies and the highest level of consistency between their aims and outcomes. It is for this reason that the Catalan University Quality Assurance Agency (AQU) is, and must increasingly become, a key element in providing Catalan universities and research centres with the tools to attain the highest level.

  • Cross-disciplinary assessment of Library Services
Now, one decade and two assessments later, we have built on a well-established project characterised by the application of an assessment methodology in a cyclical manner aimed at improving Library Servides in Catalan universities.
Albert Basart Capmany - Project manager of AQU Catalunya
  • University teaching staff in 2015
On 16 and 17 October, the tenth edition of the AQU Catalunya workshops for reflection and discussion were held at the Technological Park of the University of Girona. Under the theme "University teaching staff in 2015: profile, length of service and assessment", the agency decided to put forward university teaching staff as a topic for discussion.
Esteve Arboix Codina - Head of Teaching Staff Assessment Section

  • Profiles, Contract Policies and Performance Evaluation of Teaching Staff

    Gill Nicholls
Pro-Vice Chancellor Academic University of Salford

The evaluation of teaching is and always will remain a controversial issue that needs to be sensitive to the developmental needs of teaching staff, whilst reassuring a university that their students are engaged in quality teaching and learning situations.
