AQU Catalunya is challenging the scientific and academic community to discuss Research assessment in the Humanities and Social Sciences. The proposed workshop forms part of the Eleventh series of AQU workshops with Catalan universities, and the anticipated dates are January 28 and 29 January 2010. The workshop is to be held at the University of Barcelona.

The aim of the workshop is to reflect on the assessment of research in these fields in order to identify common benchmarks and promote greater consensus on evaluation criteria, while respecting the various levels of quality of European universities. The workshop is therefore aimed at users, namely, people who have had research assessed and who have had no contact with the world of quality assurance, those interested in the subject, and individuals who have participated in assessment processes.

The workshop will not give consideration to the need for the existence of assessment, nor is it for the discussion of complaints.

No charge is made to register for the workshop. All expenses for the organisation of the workshop will be born by AQU Catalunya. Travel and accommodation are at the expense of the participants.

Participants registering for the workshop may send their thoughts and opinions so they can be included as additional documentation for the workshop.
