January 2020
On Saturday 14 December, AQU Catalunya, together with CEUCAT, the student council for Catalan universities, organised a Course on quality assurance in higher education for the second consecutive year.
Approximately twenty university students at undergraduate, master's and doctoral levels took the course, the majority of which were student representatives.
As in the first edition of the course, the training session was divided into two parts. The theoretical sessions were held during the morning, in which student representatives Albert Gili and Kenji Muro provided an overview of the latest developments in quality assurance at both local and international levels, and Albert Basart and Núria Mancho, QA advisers at AQU Catalunya, respectively presented the procedures involving programme review and data for decision-making. The practical sessions were held in the afternoon where the participants were able to work with actual reports on reviews and procedures involving the ex-ante and ex-post accreditation of programmes.
The participation of students and, in particular, student representatives in the course demonstrates their engagement in the enhancement of higher education study programmes and provides them with the necessary tools to participate in both internal and external QA procedures in universities and other HE institutions in the university system in Catalonia.
The materials presented during the course were as follows:
