Round table-workshop on Facing the Challenges of the 21st Century – the future for higher education in Psychology

AQU Catalunya

AQU Catalunya is organising a roundtable-workshop on Facing the challenges of the 21st century – the future for higher education in Psychology to be held in the conference hall (Sala d'Actes) at the University of Barcelona's Palau de les Heures on 20 March.

The purpose of the roundtable-workshop is to inform universities and HEIs of the ways in which the labour market (employers) perceives the education and training of graduates in Psychology and to enhance the synergies between these two worlds for the purposes of improving programmes of study in higher education.

In order to encourage discussion and analysis among those attending, Francisco José Medina, dean of the University of Seville's Faculty of Psychology and chair of the Spanish Conference of Academic Deans, will explain the direction in which studies in the field of Psychology are moving and give his impressions on where they should focus in the future; Anna Prades, coordinator of AQU Catalunya's employers survey, will give a presentation on the opinions of employers in the field of Psychology based on the findings of the Employers survey.

This will be followed by a roundtable with a group of experts with different profiles. Sergi Corbella, dean of the School of Psychology, Education and Sport Sciences at the Blanquerna-Ramon Llull University/URL, will be the moderator. Others taking part in the discussion will be Susana Pallarès, vice-dean of Placement and Institutional Relations and senior lecturer in the Department of Social Psychology at the Autonomous University of Barcelona/UAB; Oscar Pino, member of the board and commissioner for research and universities on the Governing Board of the Catalan Association of Psychologists (COPC) and expert in clinical neuropsychology; and Silvia Ruiz, graduate in Psychology from the University of Barcelona, who is currently taking a Master's degree in General Health Psychology.

A speech by Antonio Solanas, dean of the Faculty of Psychology at the University of Barcelona, will bring the event to a close.
