AQU Catalunya is organising a round table-workshop on the Challenges in university education in the field of Design to be held in the Sala Aleix Carrió at the Barcelona School of Design and Engineering/ELISAVA on 19 February.

The purpose of the round table-workshop is to provide higher education institutions (universities and institutions offering Arts higher education programmes) with information on perceptions in the labour market of the education and employability of Design graduates and thereby increase the synergies between these two worlds and lead to the enhancement of programmes of study.

In order to encourage discussion and analysis among those attending, Luisa Collina, Dean of the School of Design at Politecnico di Milano and honorary president of Cumulus, the International Association of Universities and Colleges of Art, Design and Media, will explain the current orientation of studies in Design and give her impressions on where they should focus in the future; and Sandra Nieto, supervisor of AQU Catalunya's Employers survey study, will present the views and position of enterprises in this field based on an analysis of the findings of the Employers survey.

This will be followed by a round table comprising various different expert profiles, with Albert Fuster, Academic Director of ELISAVA; Carme Ortiz, Director of the Catalan School of Design and Visual Arts (ESDAP); Raquel Pelta, senior lecturer in the University of Barcelona/UB's Faculty of Fine Arts; and Rafa Martínez, Head of Brand Strategy at Folch and Senior Business Designer at Acid House Barcelona.

The closing session will be led by Javier Peña, director of ELISAVA and president of AQU Catalunya.
