A quarterly publication of AQU Catalunya
Jaume Valls Pasola, director of AQU Catalunya
The last three editorials I wrote for this bulletin were entitled, respectively, “Royal Decree 822/2021: a hard road”, “Concern over the LOSU” and “Everything gets complicated”. On reflection, it would be a good idea to differentiate between the difficulties we agencies face in the context of the regulatory changes experienced since late 2021 and the meaning of the work we do.
On 28 March AQU Catalunya published the second instalment of the collection Focus: tools for university quality, focusing on the assessment of learning outcomes. The document provides an overview of how to perform an assessment aligned with learning outcomes and also provides a series of tools and bibliographic resources to implement it successfully.
In this educational field, the demand for public places exceeded supply by 116.1% in the 2020-2021 academic year. In addition, 89.6% of students enrol out of personal interest.
It is with great satisfaction that I have completed my period of service to the Catalan Higher Education System at AQU Catalunya, specifically as chair of the Research Assessment Commission (CAR). When Minister Mas-Colell and Dr Moreso asked me, just over eight years ago, to take over from Dr Rodés, who was the first president, I did not believe that I would learn so much, that I would meet such interesting people and that together we would be able to make all the improvements we have made.
