European Standards and Guidelines (ESG)
Every five years, university quality assessment agencies that want to be recognised in Europe must pass an international external assessment of compliance with the Standards and Guidelines for Quality Assurance in the European Higher Education Area (ESG). On this page you will find information on the assessment processes that AQU Catalunya has passed.
AQU Catalunya was one of the first three European quality agencies to pass an assessment of compliance with the Standards and Guidelines for Quality Assurance in the European Higher Education Area (ESG), coordinated by the European Association for Quality Assurance in Higher Education. Thanks to its repeated positive assessment results, AQU Catalunya has been registered with the European Quality Assurance Register for Higher Education (EQAR) since 2008. EQAR, which is dependent on the European Union, provides users with a list of quality assurance agencies considered solvent, trustworthy and with good credibility that operate in the EHEA.
AQU Catalunya has passed three ESG compliance assessment processes (2007, 2012 and 2017) and in 2022 became the first agency to carry out the assessment in the form of a targeted review. This format stands out because it allows a simplified assessment process to be used for those external quality assessment agencies that have favourably passed the process on two consecutive occasions.
