AQU Catalunya at Business Tourism Market
The director of AQU Catalunya took part today in the fourth edition of the Business Tourism Market, in the panel discussion on the work environment in a new paradigm of the tourism sector arising from the COVID-19 pandemic.
Martí Casadesús, director of the Agency, was invited to take part in the panel discussion on the work environment in a new paradigm of the tourism sector. The director presented the paper "Employers' opinion of university training in the field of tourism", where she spoke about Tourism studies in Catalonia. The director showed the results of the latest editions of the surveys coordinated at the Agency: the graduate satisfaction survey, the survey on access to the labour market, and the employers survey.
In particular, it has shown the employment figures for Tourism graduates, whose salaries are slightly lower than the average of the Catalan university system but, on the other hand, enjoy greater job stability. The effects of COVID-19 on their employability were also shown.
Regarding the Employers survey, the presentation highlighted the determining factors for the recruitment of graduates, of which the most valued is knowledge of languages. And the difficulties of the business sector in hiring, such as the lack of skills needed for the job. In global terms, employers expressed remarkable satisfaction with the skills acquired by graduates.
