Dr Rosa María Capel, newest member of AQU Catalunya Institutional and Programme Assessment Committee
Dr Capel has been appointed member of the Institutional and Programme Assessment Committee by the AQU Catalunya Governing Council Standing Committee, replacing Dr Emilio Suárez de la Torre
The has appointed Dr Rosa María Capel Martínez, professor at the Faculty of Geography and History of the Complutense University of Madrid, member of the AQU Catalunya Institutional and Programme Assessment Committee from 1 April 2021, replacing Dr Emilio Suárez de la Torre, professor at Pompeu Fabra University Faculty of Humanities.
Dr Capel is a historian and obtained her PhD in 1980 from the Complutense University of Madrid, where she has continued to teach. Her publications include the books El sufragio femenino en la Segunda República Española and El trabajo y la educación de la mujer en España (1900-1930). She has been awarded the "María Espinosa" National Prize by the Spanish Ministry of Culture (1981), and the "Emilia Pardo Bazán" National Prize by the Instituto de la Mujer (1989). Her main lines of research are the history of women and gender relations, citizenship, women, public space and the political sphere, feminism and socialism.
She also has considerable experience in assessment, having collaborated with a number of quality agencies in Spain for more than a decade and been a member of the Specific Assessment Committee for Arts and Humanities of the AQU Catalunya Institutional and Programme Assessment Committee since 2018.
