AQU Catalunya Opens Registration for the ‘Training for Students in University Quality Assurance’ Course
The training, which can be recognized as credits for students, will last one day, on Saturday, 15 November 2025, and transportation and meal expenses will be covered for participants. The number of places is limited.
AQU Catalunya’s headquarters will host the course raining for Students in University Quality Assurance, on Saturday, 15 November. The course is designed to provide participants with useful tools to take part in the internal quality assurance processes of their universities, as well as in AQU Catalunya’s external evaluation processes. In addition, the training aims to offer a comprehensive overview of recent developments in quality assurance, both from an international and a local perspective. The program can be viewed at this link.
The event, organized by AQU Catalunya and the Council of Students of Catalan Universities (CEUCAT), will feature the presence of AQU Catalunya’s director, Mercè Gisbert, who will open the course alongside a CEUCAT representative. The course, which has a theoretical and practical orientation, will include both presentations and workshops. The first presentation, delivered by Pau Maza, CEUCAT coordinator from 2023 to 2025, will focus on contextualizing quality assurance within the framework of the European Higher Education Area.
Subsequently, there will be a presentation focused on higher education quality assurance, addressing both evaluation as a tool for improving programs and institutions, and data as an essential element for decision-making. The presentation will be delivered by AQU Catalunya’s Project Manager Albert Gili, Quality Assessment Area Project Coordinator Albert Basart, and Data Analyst of the Internationalization and Knowledge Generation Area Núria Mancho.
This will be followed by the roundtable Internal Quality Assurance Systems (IQAS) and Student Involvement, moderated by the Head of AQU Catalunya’s Quality Assessment Area, Esther Huertas. The roundtable will feature Antoni Ras, retired associate professor and former Vice-Rector for University Policy at UPC; Berta Roca, Quality Officer at the Faculty of Law, University of Barcelona; and Rubén Aparicio, student representative at the Universitat Oberta de Catalunya and member of AQU Catalunya’s Student Committee.
In the afternoon, the workshops will take place. The first workshop will focus on the preparation of the Student Report for the accreditation of institutions and will be led by Martina Tolós, a student at URV and member of AQU Catalunya’s Student Committee. The second workshop, centered on higher education evaluation, will be conducted by Albert Gili, Albert Basart, and Esther Huertas, joined by Quality Assessment Area Project Managers Pol Maceira and Noèlia Grifo. Before the end of the day, Gili will present the independent work required to complete the course.
Students who complete the post-course work will receive a certificate—acknowledging 25 hours of participation—which they can submit to their universities to request credit recognition if allowed by their institution’s regulations. Registration is open until 5 November 2025, or until places are filled, at this link. The course, which will run from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., will be held entirely in person and conducted in Catalan. AQU Catalunya will cover transportation costs (within Catalonia) and meals for participants.
