AQU Catalunya holds the first Governing Council meeting of 2026
The session focused on the closure of 2025 and the accountability reports from the Agency’s various commissions regarding their activities over the past year.
The Governing Council of AQU Catalunya met yesterday at the rectorate of the Universitat Ramon Llull to close the 2025 financial year and review the main actions carried out throughout the year. During the session, the president of AQU Catalunya, Francesc Xavier Grau, informed the Governing Council about the main issues discussed in his meeting with the Minister for Research and Universities, Núria Montserrat. He particularly highlighted the promotion of the Agency’s activities and the commemoration of its 30th anniversary. Grau also reported on the status of the agreement procedure for the recognition of AQU Catalunya’s research six-year assessment evaluations by ANECA, as well as the Agency’s first-ever participation in the Saló de l’Ensenyament.
For her part, the director of AQU Catalunya and president of the Institutional and Programme Review Commission (CAIP), Mercè Gisbert, the president of the Research Assessment Commission (CAR), Maria Pau Ginebra, and the president of the Appeals Commission (COAPEL), Neus Vidal, reported on the activities carried out by these commissions during 2025. Among the most notable actions are the promotion and rollout of the Framework for Improving Institutional Quality in the Catalan University System (Qualins Framework), the transition in the application of the new faculty evaluation criteria adapted to LOSU, and the review of academic staff appeal cases.
In the area of financial management, the Governing Council approved the annual accounts and inventory for 2025, accompanied by the corresponding financial audit. In addition, AQU Catalunya’s management shared the results of the legal compliance audit for the 2024 financial year. Finally, the Governing Council appointed a new member to the Institutional and Programme Review Commission and ratified the agreements signed by the Agency between December 2025 and March 2026.
