AQU Catalunya publishes the ‘Activity Planning’ for 2026
The document, approved by the Agency’s Governing Council, takes as a starting point what is established in the Strategic Plan 2023-2026, the AQU Catalunya Equality Plan 2024-2027, and the Action Plan for Compliance with the Standards and Guidelines for Quality Assurance in the European Higher Education Area.
AQU Catalunya has made public today the 2026 Activity Planning. The document, approved by the Agency’s Governing Council, groups the main activities that are expected to be carried out throughout the year under the five corporate social responsibility commitments to which AQU Catalunya wants to respond.
These are the commitment to the improvement of higher education, the commitment to society, the commitment to good governance, the commitment to alliances and the commitment to the labour sphere. Each of these commitments structures the planned activities based on various axes.
In relation to the Commitment to the improvement of higher education and from the point of view of the institutional quality axis, AQU Catalunya plans to deploy the Framework for the improvement of institutional quality of the Catalan university system (QUALINS Framework) and deploy the new methodology for the accreditation of teaching evaluation manuals. In the axis of teaching quality, the implementation of the process to carry out the three-year formative evaluation for universities that request it will begin. In the axis of knowledge generation and transfer, the online survey of the graduate employment study for 2026 graduates will be conducted and reports on evaluation processes will be prepared.
Regarding the Commitment to society, the strategic direction axis and the knowledge generation and transfer axis stand out. In the first, communication and dissemination activities through corporate communication instruments are included, and in the second, activities to disseminate the results of evaluation processes and studies. Among others, the organization of seminars and workshops and the publication of original publications stand out. The Agency also plans to celebrate its 30th anniversary.
Activities related to the Commitment to good governance are addressed from the strategic direction and internal organization strategic axes. In the first, the rollout of the Strategic Plan 2023-2026 and the development of the Strategic Plan 2027-2030 stand out. The self-evaluation process that must conclude in 2027 with an external evaluation will also begin, and the tool to implement the training plan for the experts who participate in AQU Catalunya’s evaluation processes will be deployed. In terms of internal organization, activities related to the internal functioning of AQU Catalunya, from accountability to information technology management and general services, stand out.
The Commitment to alliances involves the strategic direction and internationalization strategic axes. In the first, activities related to institutional relations and social agents of Catalonia, state relations and international relations stand out. In the second, the Activity Planning foresees continued participation in the international projects already initiated, among others.
Finally, the Commitment to the labour sphere is addressed from the internal organization axis, which includes activities in the field of human resources. During 2026 AQU Catalunya will approve the new training plan for AQU Catalunya staff and will carry out the actions foreseen in the AQU Catalunya Equality Plan 2024-2027.
The Activity Planning is a document that is presented annually to the Governing Council of AQU Catalunya in July. The text takes as its starting point the activity planning of the previous year, the improvements derived from the Agency’s meta-evaluation processes, and, above all, what is established in the Strategic Plan 2023‑2026, approved by the Governing Council of AQU Catalunya, as well as the AQU Catalunya Equality Plan 2024‑2027 and the Action Plan for Compliance with the Standards and Guidelines for Quality Assurance in the European Higher Education Area (ESG).
In addition to the activities planned in this document, AQU Catalunya also develops others. During 2026, the Agency will begin the implementation of Royal Decree 905/2025, which modifies Royal Decree 640/2021, of 27 July, on the creation, recognition and authorization of universities and university centres, and institutional accreditation of university centres; Royal Decree 1509/2008, of 12 September, regulating the Registry of Universities, Centres and Degrees; Royal Decree 1002/2010, of 5 August, on the issuance of official university degrees; and Royal Decree 822/2021, of 28 September, which establishes the organisation of university teachings and the procedure for assuring their quality.
