Favourable report on the renewal of the institutional accreditation of the Faculty of Economics and Business at the Universitat Rovira i Virgili
Following an external site visit, AQU Catalunya has issued a favourable report on the renewal of the institutional accreditation of the Faculty of Economics and Business at the Universitat Rovira i Virgili.
Among AQU Catalunya’s functions is the issuance of institutional accreditation reports for university centres in order to verify, through an external site visit, that they are suitable to carry out their educational activities. Royal Decree 640/2021 of 27 July establishes the procedure for obtaining and renewing institutional accreditation. This evaluation process provides university centres with greater autonomy in assuring the quality of their educational provision, after having demonstrated the effectiveness of the processes implemented to ensure continuous improvement.
Before six years have elapsed since the initial accreditation was obtained, the centre must undergo an external site visit to certify its proper functioning, based on compliance with the Guide to the institutional accreditation of university centres, approved in July 2021. Once the visit has been successfully completed, AQU Catalunya’s Institutional and Programme Review Commission (CAIP) issues a favourable report that enables the renewal of the centre’s accreditation.
During the evaluation, the external evaluation committee analyses, among other aspects: the centre’s policies and strategy; the design, approval and implementation of its study programmes; student admission, progression, recognition and certification; teaching staff; student-centred learning, teaching and assessment; learning resources and student support; the implementation of the Internal Quality Assurance System (IQAS) and academic results; and publicly available information on the study programmes. All accredited centres in Catalonia must periodically renew their accreditation before six years have passed since their last accreditation.
The accreditation report and the external site visit report issued by AQU Catalunya can be consulted on the EUC Informes portal:
AQU Catalunya forwards the accreditation reports to the Consejo de Universidades, the body responsible for resolving the accreditation process. It also publishes the accreditation results and issues the corresponding accreditation seal and certificate for the centre, which are available on EUC Estudis, the web portal providing comprehensive information on the quality of official university degrees in Catalonia.
