AQU Catalunya resolved a total of 29 appeals at the last meeting of the Appeals Commission (COAPEL), held on 24 April 2024, which included appeals arising from several calls for applications for teaching staff and two appeals concerning the classification of two degree programmes: the Bachelor's Degrees in Bioengineering and in Physiotherapy at the International University of Catalonia.
As for teaching staff, appeals were resolved in relation to the second call for applications for tenure-eligible lecturers for 2023 and for the Serra Hunter programme tenure-eligible lecturers, the 2023 call for the assessment of the research activity of teaching and research staff at private universities and affiliated centres, and the 2023 call for the issue of reports on the recognition of the research activity of the researchers (Ramón y Cajal programme and Beatriz Galindo). Three of the appeals resolved were upheld, corresponding to the 2023 call for the assessment of the research activity of teaching and research staff at private universities and affiliated centres.
Chaired by Neus Vidal Martínez, professor at the University of Barcelona, the commission is the AQU Catalunya body responsible for adjudicating on appeals against the decisions of the Research Assessment Commission and the other assessment, certification and accreditation commissions. Its decisions exhaust administrative channels. This COAPEL meeting resumed the commission's activity after its last session on 21 March 2024.
