AQU Catalunya's duties include the issuing of institutional accreditation reports on university centres to validate, through external visits, their suitability to carry out their educational activities. According to Royal Decree 640/2021, of 27 July, there are two main requirements that university centres must meet in order to obtain institutional accreditation. The first is to have renewed the initial accreditation of at least half of the official bachelor's degrees, half of the official master's degrees and half of the official PhD degrees awarded there. The second requirement is to be certified for the implementation of its internal quality assurance system (IQAS), which aims to continuously improve the education and training offered to students.
AQU Catalunya has verified with the Registry of Universities, Centres and Degrees (RUCT) of the Ministry of Universities that the School teaches and coordinates 6 Bachelor's degrees and 2 Master's degrees, all of which have been accredited. In addition, the Agency certified the Internal Quality Assurance System of the Manresa Technical School of Engineering on 24 April 2024 for a period of 6 years. The Institutional and Programme Review Commission (CAIP) of AQU Catalunya, chaired by the director of the Agency, Jaume Valls Pasola, has issued the positive report of the Manresa Technical School of Engineering at the Technical University of Catalonia (UPC). The centre has also obtained this positive report following an external visit, which indicates that it is working properly.
Both the accreditation report and the external visit report issued by AQU Catalunya can be found on the EUC Informes website:
AQU Catalunya submits the accreditation reports to the Council of Universities, whose decision-making body is responsible for the accreditation process. AQU Catalunya publishes the accreditation results and issues the accreditation seal and certification for the centre in question, both of which are available on the EUC Estudis website, where all the information on the quality of university centres in Catalonia can be found.
