Positive report on the renewal of the institutional accreditation of the Faculty of Chemistry at Universitat Rovira i Virgili
Following an external review visit, AQU Catalunya has issued a positive report on the institutional accreditation of the Faculty of Chemistry at Universitat Rovira i Virgili.
One of AQU Catalunya’s functions is to issue institutional accreditation reports for university centres in order to verify, through an external review visit, that they are fit to carry out their educational activities. Royal Decree 640/2021 of 27 July establishes the procedure for obtaining and renewing institutional accreditation. This evaluation process provides greater autonomy in assuring the quality of the educational provision of university centres, as a result of having demonstrated the effectiveness of the processes implemented to ensure continuous improvement.
Before six years have elapsed since the granting of initial accreditation, the centre must undergo an external review visit to confirm its proper functioning, based on compliance with the Guide for the institutional accreditation of university centres, approved in July 2021. Once the visit has been successfully completed, the Institutional and Programme Review Commission (CAIP) of AQU Catalunya issues a positive report that allows the renewal of the centre’s accreditation.
During the evaluation process, the external review panel analyses, among other aspects, the centre’s policies and strategy; the design, approval and delivery of educational programmes; student admission, progression, recognition and certification; academic staff; student-centred learning, teaching and assessment; learning resources and student support; the implementation of the Internal Quality Assurance System (IQAS) and academic results; and public information on educational programmes. All accredited centres in Catalonia must periodically undergo renewal of their accreditation before six years have elapsed since their most recent accreditation.
Both the accreditation report and the external review visit report issued by AQU Catalunya can be found on the EUC Informes portal:
AQU Catalunya submits accreditation reports to the Consejo de Universidades, which is the body responsible for the final decision in the accreditation process. AQU Catalunya publishes the accreditation outcomes and issues the accreditation seal and certificate for the corresponding centre, which are available on EUC Estudis, the web portal providing comprehensive information on the quality of official university degree programmes in Catalonia.
