The director of AQU Catalunya participates in the 16th Teaching Conference at Universidad Católica de Temuco
Under the theme “Staying human in the age of artificial intelligence”, the conference aims to “sustain and reclaim the human dimension of teaching at a time when AI is accelerating the pace of change”.
The director of AQU Catalunya, Mercè Gisbert, opened the 16th Teaching Conference at Universidad Católica de Temuco yesterday. Taking part online, Gisbert delivered the opening address at the conference, organised by the Chilean university to provide a space for academic reflection and the exchange of experiences that contributes to strengthening ethical, critical and innovative university teaching, while promoting the development of human capacities that enable artificial intelligence to be integrated responsibly, enhance learning, strengthen professional judgement and foster students’ holistic education.
Under the theme “Staying human in the age of artificial intelligence: reimagining learning in higher education”, over the course of two days the conference aims to “focus on sustaining and reclaiming what is human in teaching at a time when AI is accelerating the pace of change: time to think, to doubt, to support others, to make mistakes and to learn from them”. As the organisers explain, the call is aimed both at experiences that integrate AI in an ethical and pedagogical manner and at methodologies and practices that, without using AI, respond to the same needs of our time: sustaining critical thinking, encouraging face-to-face interaction, caring for the academic community and preserving the ultimate purpose of education. The conference is particularly aimed at teaching staff in general and researchers in teaching in particular.
