The director of AQU Catalunya, Jaume Valls Pasola, took part in the launch of the QADoc (Capacitation pour l'Évaluation et Assurance Qualité des Formations Doctorales et de la Recherche) conference on 23 and 24 April, which aims to strengthen university research quality capacity in Senegal, Guinea-Conakry and the Democratic Republic of the Congo. During the two-day conference, Valls took part in the round table Assessment/quality assurance of PhD schools and research: history, experiences, models and comparative perspectives for Africa and Europe, which was also attended by Kabiné Oularé, Executive Secretary of ANAQ (Guinea); Constante Nkiama Ekisawa, Executive Secretary of ANAQ-ESu (DRC), and Joao Guerreiro, President of A3ES (Portugal).
In addition, the Agency's internal quality manager, Núria Comet Señal, gave a presentation at the session Lumières sur les partenaires européens, which was attended by other guest institutions such as the Portuguese quality agency, A3ES, the Rovira i Virgili University in Catalonia, and the universities of Montpellier (France) and Beira Interior (Portugal).
Funded by the Erasmus+ Programme, the QADoc project is coordinated by Cellule Interne de Assurance Qualité, which is the technical quality unit of the Université Cheikh Anta Diop (UCAD), which has more than 70% of Senegal's students and almost the same percentage of teaching and research staff. It also has several partners such as the Senegalese quality agency ANAQ Sup. The main contribution of AQU Catalunya to this initiative is the design of a training programme for ministries, quality assurance agencies and universities on the assessment criteria for PhD programmes and schools.
