AQU Catalunya Institutional and Programme Review Commission approves organisation of external visits for 2023
The CAIP met today, in person, at the Agency offices and approved the organisation of external visits in 2023

The Institutional and Programme Review Commission (CAIP) held its last meeting of 2022 today. Agency director and CAIP president Jaume Valls presented the various items on the agenda to the Commission and a report was given on the roll-out of Royal Decree 822/2021. The session was very productive and generated a spirited debate focused particularly on the regulatory changes facing the Agency.
A number of documents were approved during the meeting that will enable adjustment of AQU Catalunya assessment processes and methods, including external visit formats, according to the assessment process, specifically:
- Renewal of accreditation of recognised bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral degree programmes:
- On-site external visit, when one of the degree programmes being assessed is in one of the following situations:
- It is being accredited for the first time.
- The overall result of the previous accreditation was “with conditions”.
- It has a result for Dimension 5. Previous effectiveness of learning support systems “with conditions”.
- Virtual external visit, when all the degree programmes being assessed are in the following situations:
- Second and subsequent renewal of accreditation.
- Previous accreditation with no dimension with conditions.
- Combined external visit (on-site and virtual), when:
- The degree programmes to be assessed have been accredited previously.
- The result of the previous accreditation was not “with conditions”.
- On-site external visit, when one of the degree programmes being assessed is in one of the following situations:
- Internal Quality Assurance System implementation certification: assessments are carried out on-site over two full working days.
- Renewal of institutional accreditation: visits are on-site.
