AQU Catalunya continues its artificial intelligence series at the Universitat de Lleida
The Agency has held the third session in the series there, focusing on integrity in teaching.
AQU Catalunya continued its Quality and integrity in higher education in the age of artificial intelligence series today with a third session held at the Universitat de Lleida. The event, focusing on integrity in teaching, attracted more than 300 online participants, who followed a programme that approached the issue from a range of perspectives. The session followed on from the inaugural session, held in hybrid format on 3 June at the Historic Building of the Universitat de Barcelona.
The session at the Universitat de Lleida began with a welcome from the rector of the Universitat de Lleida, Maria Àngels Balsells Bailón; the secretary of the Inter-University Council of Catalonia, Xavier Martínez Celorrio; and the director of AQU Catalunya, Mercè Gisbert Cervera. Gisbert then moderated a round table featuring Enric Brescó Baigues, professor at the Faculty of Education, Psychology and Social Work at the Universitat de Lleida; Marcos Cánovas Méndez, professor at the Universitat de Vic - Universitat Central de Catalunya and member of the Glossa research group, which focuses on digital tools applied to teaching; Joan Hernández Serret, professor at the Faculty of Communication Sciences at the Universitat Internacional de Catalunya; Remei Quero Soria, management, administration and services officer in the Library and Documentation area at the Universitat de Lleida; and Marta Ferrón Carbonell, a student on the doctoral programme in Health Sciences at the Universitat Internacional de Catalunya.
This was followed by group work under the title From diagnosis to action: challenges and solutions for ensuring integrity in the age of AI. The group work took place behind closed doors and was not broadcast, but the conclusions were presented at a subsequent joint session. Also moderated by Gisbert, the presentation session featured Francisco Javier Carrera Farran, from the Universitat de Lleida; Ricard Giramé, from the Universitat de Vic - Universitat Central de Catalunya; and Gabriel Fernàndez Borsot, from the Universitat Internacional de Catalunya, as facilitators of the working groups. The event concluded with contributions from the vice-rector for Governance and PTGAS, Damià Vericat Querol, and the director of AQU Catalunya.
The session Integrity in teaching was designed to address the challenges and possible solutions associated with the use of artificial intelligence in teaching. The first part focused on building a shared vision among universities, while the second structured the collaborative work around three areas: course planning, classroom activity and assessment. The recommendations arising from the group work will be compiled in a practical summary document, conceived as a useful and operational guide to inform the policies and actions that the Catalan university system may wish to promote in this area.
AQU Catalunya will continue the series with two further sessions to be held across the territory. More details are available here.
