AQU Catalunya launches the first call for the evaluation of teaching assistant professors’ performance
This evaluation, available to universities that have signed an agreement with the Agency, aims to assess the progress and quality of teaching and research activities carried out by teaching assistant professors.
AQU Catalunya is launching today the first call for the evaluation of teaching assistant professors’ performance. The aim of this evaluation is to assess the progress and quality of teaching and research activities carried out by teaching assistant professors, as well as, where applicable, their contribution to knowledge transfer and exchange. This assessment is intended to help these academics achieve the merits required to obtain accreditation enabling them to apply for a permanent academic position at the end of their contract with their universities.
Applications, which can be accessed from today here, may be submitted by all teaching assistant professors holding an active contract —from the entry into force of the LOSU— at a Catalan university that has a current agreement in place to commission this evaluation from AQU Catalunya. One of the requirements is that at least three years must have passed since the start of the contract between the academic and the university. In addition, AQU Catalunya plans to evaluate teaching assistant professors recruited under the Pla Serra Húnter programme, as well as those from universities that commission this evaluation through an agreement.
This evaluation can only be requested once and, given that its purpose is purely advisory, the result obtained is not binding in relation to other evaluations that the applicant may request from AQU Catalunya. The implementation of this new evaluation model by the Agency stems from Article 78.e of Organic Law 2/2023, of 22 March, on the university system. This regulation establishes that, after the first three years of the contract, universities must carry out an advisory evaluation of the performance of assistant professors (teaching assistant professors, in accordance with Article 49 of Law 1/2003, of 19 February, on universities of Catalonia).
